Ocean Star Restaurant in Monterey Park

Ocean Star Restaurant is located at 145 North Atlantic Blvd #201, Monterey Park, CA 91754, 626-308-2128 in a two story mall with parking in the back. The entrance to this place is also in the back. I was just talking with some urban planner types this week about this sort of architectural layout where the mall's relationship to the street is fortress like and is completely car oriented. The facade is hidden and the foot traffic is maze like. In fact, they say it's anti-pedestrian. Ocean Star is like the quintessential "Chinese" food restaurant circa 70's, where the interior feels like a weird wedding after-party site and the food has so much MSG in it that you don't really need to order any liquor. It's good but the aftermath is harsh. If I wanted to make a film that was a combination of Kung-Fu meets Fellini, I would definitely scout this place.
