At 1001 S Broadway, in DTLA, is a coffee/beer place that a number of my bicyclist friends seem to know about. The owners are cyclists. They have that Nitro Beer that such the craze right now but today I had a pour over and a granola with steamed milk. Really wonderful. Great guys too.
On a corner at 1000 E Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801, is an old school diner. Here, i ordered the burger, given it's name. It was very late for lunch. They were out of fries so i asked for chips and salsa and they were open to that substitution. The green salsa was amazing. The burger was pretty good too but that salsa stope the scene.
I've ridden passed this so many times. i finally stopped and had some coffee. I got an Americano. It was delicious. There was a community meeting happening so the space really feels like a community center. nice vibe and it looks like they have live music sometimes too. 2024 W. Washington Blvd LA (West Adams) CA 90018

Pasta Sisters opened a while ago and I certainly have been eyeing it for months but i finally stopped by. There is very limited seating there. We decided to take out an order of arugula salad, ravioli and penne. The pasta is delicious but the sauce was slightly adequate. I recommend making your own sauce at home but the pasta is perfect. Corner of Arlington Avenue and Pico Blvd.
After a day of bliss and mayhem at the Getty Villa in Malibu, we decided to get some seafood with artist Kim Abeles and family. Located at 25653 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265, Malibu Seafood Market is right off PCH with Malibu beach as its backdrop. The mussels were incredible but the crab was a little dry. Yet, we had a great time filled with fun and endearment.
Locol is the brainchild of Roy Choi; healthy fast food options. Located at 1950 E 103rd St Los Angeles CA 90002. I went with a friend who curates one of my favorite galleries but I can't mention him because he said so. ha ha. These photos are from a week or two ago but I went for a 2nd time today with fellow bicyclists. We had a great time. The food is not exceptional but the price is great. The ceiling is filled with 15" speakers. nuff said.

This is a chain and I rarely post chains but this is worthy of a post and it's in my neighborhood. It does concern me that possibly my hood is gentrifying. Well, it's great fried chicken, a bit spicy. According to their website, they started in Tennessee. 1262 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90019, on the northeast corner of Pico and Crenshaw.
The Getty Villa is an amazing recreation of a Greek villa and houses amazing ancient artifacts plus has a wonderful view of the beach. I was the artist in residence there from February to June 2016. My liaison , Audrey Chan and I would meet at the coffee cart and her favorite snack is the jalapeño bagel, which admit, is wonderful junk food.
Near my house in K Town is perhaps the original Bento Man on Western, a wonderful old school Japanese take out-type place. Bento's of course, are those sectionalized containers of Japanese comfort food/ picnic ready take out food. So in Little Tokyo, they opened a place up and I now work in a building a block away. Lucky me!!!! Little Tokyo, Downtown, 228 E 1st St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
