Concerto Coffee on 8th Street in Koreatown
The other day, Marvello Muro, who I originally met while she was working at Self Help Graphics, wanted to meet with me to discuss my former Artist-in-Residence project with the LA County Library. Know that she is with the commissioning agency, LA County Department of Arts & Culture, she wanted to talk to me about my year with the Library.
I suggested this coffee house Boaz Sender told me about which I hadn't been to.
I arrived and ordered the Concerto Signature Latte, which came with a big cookie. It was glorious and not too sweet. I sat down at one of the few tables and started to read the book I'm currently reading, "A DJ Saved My Life Last Night".
Marvello texted me and gave me her location. I gave her mine. It turns out there are two other places called Concerto in Koreatown and she now knows were the each are.
In the half hour I waited, I drank my latte and ate my cookie, so when Marvella showed up, she treated me to the Matcha Latte, which was equally as delicious and refreshing and not too sweet.
Our meeting lasted maybe 30 min and I was fully caffeined and sugared up for the rest of the day.
The service was very sweet. It's such a new place, there's a curiosity excitement happening. In the hour I was there, the place got packed with customers. I can't imagine them not doing well given they are on the same floor as a popular Korean supermarket as well as part of an apartment complex. I wonder if anyone has calculated how many coffee shops Koreatown has per square feet? It's starting to feel that there's one every block. Just in this neighborhood, there's a very popular place across the street. Yet, they keep opening and people keep occupying them. It's quite the phenomena.
Concerto Coffee is located at 750 S Oxford Ave Ste 102 Los Angeles, CA 90005. There's often street parking but there is the market public parking in the building. So if you buy groceries, you can get the parking validated. Also, the address is Oxford but the shop is actually on Serrano, off 8th Street. All to say that it might be a little challenging the first time.
