Surfas on Washington Blvd

Surfas, at this point is an institution of sorts. At one point they were in Culver City, also on Washington Blvd. Today there's this one at 3225 W Washington Blvd LA CA 90018, six blocks away from where I live, and there's one in Arkansas. There also used to be one in Long Beach, which I never went to.

I wasn't immediate when this one opened near my house, that they had this notoriously priced hamburger on their menu. Surfas is primarily a store that sells kitchen/restaurant utensils and ingredients but they alway had a cafe.

I have a fond memory of picking my daughter up from Culver High School after her basketball practice. We went to Surfas and we bought the burgers. They were about to close so we brought them in the car and ate them. She was very tired from practice so it was quiet for a while. I asked her how did she like the burger. She said it might be the best burger she ever ate. Our family standard was Capitol Burgers so this was high praise.

So recently, going to Surfas and seeing the burger back on the menu, i had to try it. It really is still a magnificent burger. Welcome back!
