Cafe Juayua in El Sereno
Walking down Huntington Drive for the first time in a while, I saw this coffee shop. It's a small pocket of a space next to a bike shop. Walked in and the space was recently upgraded with canopies and a small structure for the shop.
Super friendly folk turned out to be the owners Ms. Anabella and mr. Gustavo. Their nephew Noah, an engineering student was working the counter and the barrista of the day. This is a family run shop in the the deepest sense.
Even the coffee beans are grown on their property in El Salvador.
Some of the pastries are baked by Noah's Mother, including a ressurrected secret family recipe for Quesadilla.
I opted for the locally baked blueberry muffin but I will return for the quesadilla soon.
I bought the the special Heirloom Roast. Which i've been enjoying all week.
Noah told me that their land in El Salvador is near a volcano so the soil is unusual and that effects the coffee beans.
This place is a great find and I hope you get a chance to check it out. Located at 5346 Huntington Dr S, LA CA 90032
