Cow Belly in Highland Park on York

 

I was out on York yesterday with my friend Miles to check out as many of the LA Road Concert installations as possible but before we started that trek, we stopped by Cow Belly for lunch.

Neither of us had ever been there nor did we know about, it just happen to be near the start of York were the installations were. Miles had the burger and I had the Birria.

We shared the Pear and Arugula Salad.

Again, we walked in with no knowledge or expectations but I can truthfully say that Miles and I were completely blown away but the level of culinary creativity and deliciousness each item had. This fusion of ethnic food staples was refreshing and surprising.

My Birria was so tender and the sauce was so deep. The polenta was perfect, smooth and full of flavor.

I hope Cow Belly is here for a long while. It derves to be. The level of care and expertise is so high. The interiors have been well thought out, dining? party? community event? they have it all taken care of.

I'm definitely going back to explore the rest of that menu.
