Afuri in Arts Disrtict (Ramen)

Tsukemen ramen is now a norm in Los Angeles so it's interesting to try all the different spins on the 1960's Tokyo Ramen style. Afuri is located at 688 Mateo St Los Angeles, CA 90021.

The interior is a balance between fancy and fun. At times it feels like you are saturated inside a stylized eatery but at times it feels like you are at a food court. 

The sides or additional toppings were your standard offerings. My friend Umi chose the mushrooms, which were excellent. I ordered a

Yuzo (a citrus) is prevalent throughout the menu from the ramen stock itself to alcohol beverages and limeades.

The challenge is to enjoy this and not expect a heavy pork oil broth. My favorite part was the chashu which is round and flat and when it comes in your ramen, it is a cup holding some of the yuzu broth. Very nice design.
