Prato Bakery in Jersey City NJ
Actually on my final morning on the East Coast, I took a little walk in Jersey City, where i was staying with friends. They had told me about Prato Bakery and the Cantucci, the first day I arrived five nights earlier.
"Cantucci are small, almond-flavored Italian cookies that are traditionally twice-baked, resulting in a hard and crunchy texture. They are often enjoyed with a sweet dessert wine called Vin Santo, making them a popular treat in Italy." -Wikipedia
Is it it a Biscotti? nope, it's a Cantucci. I don't think Biscotti is baked twice.
I bought two little bags of assorted Cantucci. One I left with my friends, who had already left for work and the other I specifically wanted to have with my coffee on the flight home.
You know that moment, the flight staff roll down the center and ask you what you would like to drink; flight beverage. I almost always get coffee now-a-daze and when i pulled out my little bag of Cantucci from Prato, there was a sense of fun, satisfaction and mundane into the extraordinary I got to feel.
