Gold Line Listening Bar in Higland Park

Bay Tran, Grand Chef based in St Louis MO (Treehouse) was in Los Angeles and wanted to go to listening lounges. Could this mean a listening lounge is in STL's future? We shall see.

Our first stop was the Gold Line in Highland Park located at 5607 N Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90042-4101.

The Waze guided me to a place with no signage and minimal street visability. i sort of walked past it twice. This has to be it and walked in. the security at front didn't een bother to ask for ou ID and just waved us in. LOL

Is this heaven? Vintage Macintosh amplifiers and sound gear surrounded by three rows of LPs and two rows of liquor.

The place was relatively packed. I walked up to the bar. I don't go to bars much so this part is always awkward. I'm sure the bartenders see me? They do of course but i often have this dialogue in my head. I don't want to be obnoxious. Anyway, the smile directed toward me made me feel at ease and soon we were looking at the mixed drink menu (see attached).

I told the bartender that I have this addiction to Japanese Youtube variety shows especially if a visit to restaurants and bars is involved. When it gets hot they always order a Lemon Sour. What is that. "I'm not sure but I think I know what you are talking about. I've never made it before but if you alright with experimenting, i'll make it. if you don't like it you can just order something else"

Meanwhile Bay and I are exchanging comments of the vibe and details of Gold Line.

The Lemon Sour project is completed. I take a sip and it is delicious. Something very aduly about a gin mixed drink.

In the back area is a sitting area fitted with two vintage Altec speakers that could double as a mini dance floor.

We got a great feeling albeit the very Hipster crowd: very nice people,  great bar, amazing sound set up, not too many people listening to the music.
