Valerie's Echo Park

 

Breakfast with Nora Kahn in Echo Park found ourselves in her neighborhood. She chose Valerie Echo Park, which I have been to before but that was years ago. As I've mentioned before, I am big fan of Valerie's, their legacy in LA runs throughout DTLA, East Hollywood, Echo Park and now Burbank/Glendale.

So we ordered and of course everything was beyond excellent. That cheesecake, was it Scottish Cheesecake? Amazing with my hot tea.

Anyway, as we sat down, I notice a man and a woman sitting across us. The man....could it be? no way...Nora noticed my eyes and facial expression. Someone I have idolized for decades, it was Daniel Lanois, fully decked out in black leather. I was in absolute awe and starstruck to the core.

Did i go up to him> no. I was born and raised in Hollywood and I know the potential awkwardness that would have caused. But how cool was that? very cool to see him just a few yards away.

I think they eventually leave and I disclose my star siting to Nora. Within minutes, "Hi? Alan" it was Professor Duncan Williams. Duncan sat down for a minute with us and I got to introduce Nora and Duncan. That was quite the privilege for me.
