DUG in Shinjuku, Tokyo Japan

DUG is located at 3 Chome-15-12 Shinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 160-0022, Japan but evidentaly not for long. The word is that the building was recently sold and will be demoed.

I felt very lucky to have the chance of experiencing this legendary Jazz Kissa.

I walked around the block twice before I realized where this was and walked down the stairs. The door gives you an introduction of the retro Jazz mecca, with photographs of Jazz legends and an old wood veneer.

Once inside, the Classic Jazz is playing through their vintage audio system. You are escorted to your table and given a menu that looks like it's from another world.

I ordered the Signature Royal Milk Tea on ice which was refreshing. The staff is very knowledgeable about Jazz, the audio system and the history of DUG. The late owner was a professional photographer who documented Jazz all over the world. I was allowed to look at two of his published books which was fantastic.

It would be great if the Family relocated and recreated DUG as an homage to his photography. I have no idea what their plans are. it is a shame this place will close in the near future.
