Paolis Italian Kitchen woodland Hills

It was after the first story making workshop in our series of five. I was so grateful to work with poet Rocio Carlos and Chiwan Choi, poet and Writ-Large Press co-organizer, who was in town, graced us with his presence. The workshop went well but being the first one, a lot of staff were present and was with middle school students from the Topanga area. Needless to say it was a high energy maiden voyage. Afterwards, Rocio, Chiwan and I were driving to the freeway to get back to LA, we saw the word "cocktail" and made a b-line to this old school bar. The traffic was gonna be crazy whether we left now or in an hour, so we parked and walked in like the Eastside Rat Pack. Outside of a drunk dude who's humor was locked in a pre-feminist era comedy mindset, everyone in there was super cool and chill. What was funny that this guy openly critiqued himself as misogynistic and excused himself. It was a weird and unforgettable cliche. Sandwiches and salads on the menu. We opted for sandwiches with our Scotch. It was fabulous! 21020 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364
