Fire and Spice in Hartford, Conneticut
WHAT A FIND !!!!! Located at 491 Capitol Ave, Hartford, CT 06106, Fire and Spice is a compact restaurant designed for take out but there's a L shaped counter maybe four or five can sit at, which we did. The staff is awesome and full of welcome.
The moment you step into the one room interior, the aroma of deliciousness hits you and pulls you in. We were smiling the moment we walked in and there was a sense of heightened glory.
I mean, look at the pictured. We each got an order but it was a lot so we couldn't finish it. We each took our carton back to the car and drove to UCONN. The reason we drove from Jersey City to Hartford is to see my Son's team play UCONN. There weren't too many of us rooting UofA but we were mighty and we won. We stayed afterwards to say hi to my Son. I live for his hug and then we parted.
When we got back to the parking structure and by the way it was very cold, grid lock. It was a bit of mayhem actually. Sensing non control, we just hung out on our floor and talked and watched the view from four stories. And then! "I'm hungry", "yeah, let's eat the leftovers". So we went back to our car, still grid lock in the parking structure, horns honking and the low hum of everyone's idle engine echoing in the concrete structure. Pulled out the leftovers from Fire and Spice and even though it was all cold now, it was still delicious which made all of us very happy. A vegetarian Jamaican Gift that keeps on giving.
