LA Cafe on Jefferson and Lauren Halsey's SISTER DREAMER Bike Ride

It'd been quite a while since a group bike ride was organized by yours truly. I used to organize these rides from Little Tokyo to Long Beach using the LA River Bike Path and then we would take the train back.

I really like artist Lauren Halsey's work. It is hyper local, exciting, futuristic and non-linear. So when I heard an opening of their public art work was being held like a community block party, not only was I in but I thought it would be a good time to organize a group bike ride with friends.

We met in KTown and rode to Western and 77 Street. The festivities were already underway and along the block and inside the pocket park/ memorial/ public art project we all bumped into friends.

On our way back, it was coffee time and Eric suggested LA Cafe on Jefferson. I'd been to the one on Western which i believe is there flagship and then I've been to the one at the Kaiser in Baldwin Hills when i went for a check up last year. Of course I had the coffee after the check up.

LA Cafe's coffee is excellent. I'm planning on buying bags as gifts for my trip to Japan in a couple of week. They roast their own beans. Like Lauren Halsey's work, it too is hyper local. Also like Lauren's work, it is community rooted, so in many ways it was an ideal last stop after we saw the artwork. This shop is located at 2401 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018.
