Funhouse in Little Tokyo LA
A while back, I went to LA Artcore, a community art gallery in Little Tokyo. Next door, a new restaurant was about to open and out of the side door I saw Alice Baggs and someone else walk out. ????? What is going on there? but I was focused on a meeting at LA Artcore and continued toward the gallery.
Not too long after, I learned that a Punk Rock bar had opened up ther.
Three times over the course of several months, I tried to go but would always show up right when they were closing.
Finally, I got in. My friend Alessandra had driven up from San Diego for work and came to visit so we decided to give this place a try.
Funhouse is located at 116 Judge John Aiso Street, East Los Angeles, CA 90012. Please check their hours before you go.
The owner is a super nice guy and is in a local punk band. They were selling their 45 on the counter so Alessandra and I bought one each.
The entire decor is original punk posters and flyers. I told Alessandra that it sort of reminded me of Atomic Cafe from back in the day.
The food and drinks were excellent. Alessandra is going on a trip to Tokyo so this was a good warm up meal for her.
