Berge's Sandwichs in La Cañada

My first time at this La Cañada staple. Really nice folk with an old school menu. I asked what was popular and this was one of the menu items they recommended; Roast Beef sandwich.

I went to poet Amy Uyematsu's Memorial at Descanso Garden's. It was a poetry tour de force, each reading their fav Uyematsu poem and then their own. It's a format that most poetry readings follow. Amy is a legend, especially in the Los Angeles poetry community. She will be widely missed.

It felt good to sit down at Berge's, which is located at 1044 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge CA 91001. The family-nostalgic shop was playing a NCAA Men's Basketball Game on the screen and it felt familiar and comfortable, especially with that classic wood paneling. The sandwich was so familiar, a very Americana mix of ingredients and grilled on a heat press.
