Cafe Mak in Koreatown

So many friends have told me about this place. It took years for me to visit Cafe Mak, a very VERY popular spot for late night coffee and study solitude.

I was with my friend and after we checked places out in K-Town, we wanted coffee and decided to go to Cafe Mak, which she, of course, had been to many times having been brought up in K-Town. In fact, before we sat doen to order, she gaver a tour of the many rooms. Many people were by themselves studying, with their lap tops, notes and other research like items spread across the table. Other tables were filled with folks and families. The place is so huge and spread out, you can find the quiet environments and not so quiet environments.

We ordered coffee and this festive shaved ice dish, which we shared.

This may have been someone's house at some point. it most definitely feels like you're in someone's home. The front room looks like it was retrofitted over a front yeard and the door to the next room looks like the front door to the former home. There's also places to site outside and lots of parking not only in the back but also half a block toward Wilshire on the same side of the block.

I'd like to go back someday, later in the evening and witness the study vibe of a packed house. maybe I'll wait till school's are back in next week or the week after.

One of the reasons I never came was the impression that there's no parking. Now that I know that's not really an issue, I wanna see it late at night.
