Gorbal's in Downtown LA

I was on a photo shoot with photographer Elon Shoenholz last week. When you're shooting an exterior canopy in Downtown LA, you're pretty much chasing the sun so there was a block of an hour we had between sessions and we were both a little hungry. I had been to Gorbal's before but Elon hadn't so it was a chance to introduce it someone just like Albert Ortega introduced it to me years ago. We ordered the Welsh Rarebit with fried egg; Steamed mussel with bacon, leeks and white wine sauce; and Persian cucumber with crispy garbanzos, avocado and sumac. Holly cow! Nice break. Gorbal's is on the first floor of the Alexandria Hotel, 501 S Spring Stree, LA CA 90013.
