Wakaba Japanese Crepe Torrance CA

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Wakaba Japanese Crepe is located at 2143 W 182nd St, Torrance, CA 90504, which is the moni mall that houses Nijiya Market if you're familiar with that.

Waka(i) means young and Ba is the kanji for leaf. It was explained to me that the owner, who I did not meet, decided on this name because this crepe place is his first business. They opened two month ago. FRESH!!!

There are over a dozen of crepe combinations. Some of them are very much more elaborate then the one i ended up ordering. I tend to gravitate towards anything chocolate but the match crepe looked really wonderful, next time?

As for this first try, excellent. I really enjoyed this crepe. i was a little tired and it picked me right back up. A side note, I also purchased the Kona Coffee. This was a very bad idea for me as the combination of the two gave me a delirious sugar rush.. i ended up throwing away a half drunk Kona Coffee, very wasteful on my part.

When a place states that it's a Japanese crepe, my mind instantly goes to the crepe truck that was parked in Harajuku back in the late 1980's. I am not sure if such a truck is still there? maybe they have a brick n mortar by now? I am not even sure crepes are still a thing in Japan.

Anyways, crepes spark several fond memories for me and in that way, this snack, treat and/or dessert is loved my so many. I haven't made on in a very long time. Maybe I make some this weekend. I have the special pan and the wood spreader but you don't really need those. I seasoned Chef can make it with a regular skillet and a masterful cooking wrist.  I am not a seasoned Chef so I went and purchased all the doo dads.

2026 is the year of fire horse. My ex-wife was born under this auspicious sign. Maybe i should ask her if they still have that crepe truck in Harajuku? Anyway, Happy New Year to you and may you keep your head above water and your sweet and savory heart in balance!
