Manila Inasal on Virgil Avenue

I've passed by this mini mall for decades so when Manila Inasal landed, it was obvious and intriguing. I have enjoyed many restaurant and home cooked Philippine dishes in my life but I am by no means an expert. I do love the cuisine. I asked my friend Jean to come with me, a fellow foodie and there we were. There's parking underground, which I never knew, so if you drive and see that the street level lot is full, which is very small, drive downstairs as street parking is almost none existent in this famously complex crossroads.

We did RSVP, which I recommend. Once inside, it is a fabulous interior with a balance between contemporary and classic Philippine decor. The staff is attentive and friendly. They even had a live guitarist which was incredible. You hardly ever see live musicians at restaurants anymore and this guitarist could really play well. The patronage was primarily Philippine and there was a mix of families and people on a date of sorts.

If i could be so bold as to state that there was a sense of love from the kitchen here. I once asked my son in law what was one Japanese mochi place so much better than another mochi place here in Los Angeles and he said "love".

I'm not going to list and comment on each dish, rather i would say that the food was excellent but the experience was extraordinary. Which is something we should all strive for. Maybe that's the point. They ae located at 240 N Virgil Avenue LA CA 90004.
